#13 Hippos – kill 600 people per year

The hippo may be a very large animal and definitely not very muscular-looking at all but it does kill a whopping 600 people per year in Africa alone, making it the largest land mammal on earth!
Despite what they look like, they are very aggressive, can be angered quickly and have extremely sharp teeth so if you are caught by one, you have literally had your day! In addition, weighing close to 2,5 tons, if an angry hippo sits on you, it will quickly crush you to death. Again, rather keep your distance and look at one from afar!
#14 Crocodiles – kill 1000 people per year

Occurring in Africa, crocodiles are even more aggressive than alligators and kill around 1000 people every year. However, this number could very easily be much greater as many attacks take place in small, rural communities and are often not reported.
That being said, the crocodile does not necessarily hunt for human beings as prey but if a human being is in its way, well…Death by crocodile is also a horrendous way to go as once you are in the grip of a croc’s mouth, its jaw locks and there is no way out. You are then tossed around before being eaten as a snack.
#15 Tapeworms – kill 2,000 per year

Everyone knows that a tapeworm infestation is really not ok. But what the majority of people do not know is that the tapeworm is a deadly killer: so much so that it kills around 2000 people around the world per year! In the Western world tapeworm infestations are pretty rare but in under-developed countries, they can be quite common.
These infections occur when people consume undercooked meat or fish that is contaminated with tapeworm. Once ingested, the tapeworm hooks on to the intestinal wall and can then grow up to 9 meters long until it can eventually kill you.
