The Deadliest Animals on Earth – Ranked

Do you know which animals are the deadliest to humans? You might be surprised! Some of them may lurk in your own backyard. Check-out this countdown of the most deadly creatures on the planet.

#22 Snakes – kill 50,000 per year

We bet you aren’t surprised that snakes are in the number 3 position! With so many people having a phobia about snakes, it is no wonder. There is no shortage of highly venomous snakes on Earth, with the Western Taipan snake being the most deadliest one. A bite from this scary snake can kill you within 45 minutes! The good news is that this rarely happens.

Most of the deadliest snakes in the world are found in Asia and Australia so if you really do not want to die in this way, rather avoid these areas (or simply carry an anti-venom kit)!

#23 Humans – We kill 475,000 per year

Well, humans are technically animals, aren’t they? And deadly and dangerous ones, at that! Sadly, we are not doing that well as a species in that we are killing off loads of our own, in addition to other animals in the process.

The only difference with us, though, is that we don’t kill each other for food but for other really dumb reasons. It is unthinkable that we can both hate and love ourselves at the same time. The moral of the story here? Watch your back because you never know who is out to get you! Man or beast!

#24 Mosquitos – kill 1,000,000 per year

In number one spot is the tiny mosquito! Ironically it is the tiniest creature out of all the creatures listed but definitely the deadliest, killing a staggering 1 million people a year. How does it do this? By infecting people with Malaria, dengue fever, encephalitis and yellow fever.

Sadly, in the breeding season these dangerous creatures can be found in endless numbers and are most prevalent in the poorest parts of the world, namely Sub-Saharan Africa where access to quality medical care is limited.

Anti-Malarian drugs are available to people traveling to these countries but for people living here, there is not much hope but to try and keep away from these tiny disease-carrying insects as much as possible.
