No one would be surprised if you thought that a lake viewed on Google Earth near Sadr City in northern Baghdad was full of blood. An incredibly scary thought, but a realistic one due to Iraq’s war-filled history.

Luckily, experts have a more reasonable explanation for this color and believe it is because of pollution or water-treatment works. Let’s hope so!
